Math Help Resources
We all need help from time to time. Here are some sources I encourage you to try.
- Practice and study effectively.
- See your teacher.
- The Paul Hamburger Math Tutoring Center (Room 828 in the Math Building) is available for extra help in mathematics. Community volunteers staff the room during much of the school day (schedule) and offer support to students on a drop-in basis for homework, test preparation, and on-going support. Students can go directly to the room and receive a pass to bring back to their study hall or house secretary. (The tutoring center is dedicated to Mr. Paul Hamburger who proposed the idea of a community volunteer tutoring center in the mathematics department after the override failed in 2006 and was instrumental in helping it become a reality at LHS.)
- The National Honor Society operates a peer tutoring program where students who are strong in mathematics volunteer to tutor other students.
- For more extensive help, you may be able to add a Math Skills course to your schedule for 1 or 2 blocks per week, with another teacher who specializes in giving extra support. Ask your guidance counselor.
- As a convenience for students and parents, the Math Department secretary maintains a list of individuals who offer private tutoring services in the Lexington area. The math department has not screened or evaluated these tutors in any way, and does not endorse or recommend any specific tutor [though I recommend this guy].
